The electrical problem is the most terrible nightmare of every car owner; So many wires and complicated components need to be checked. Fortunately, the car common wire diagram can help you speed up the whole process. Obviously, you first need to understand the different codes and symbols of the electrical diagram. To help you solve this problem, we have created a quick guide that describes how to read the car common wire diagram, so as to troubleshoot and repair simple electrical system problems in a short time.
Most common wire diagram Symbols and their Meaning
Connected Wires
The symbol used to indicate the connection of two wires is a small black dot. These wires are contained in the same system, or at least use the same power or ground connector.
Non-Connected Wires
If the wires run in the same harness, but cross each other and are not connected, the symbols are the same, but have a little bulge. These wires should not trigger the multimeter when testing for continuity. If they do this, the wires may be stripped somewhere and may cause a short circuit in the system.
Battery / Power Source
This is the symbol of the standard 6-cell 12v automobile battery. Some charts may use a simplified version with only two vertical bars instead of six. On more complex electrical systems or electronic modules, diagrams may soon be filled with a large number of lines and symbols, making them difficult for users to read. Depending on the manual editor, this symbol may represent 2 batteries, or it may only be used to make the entire diagram easier to read.
